Only the infamous Walter White could be influential enough to find a way to genuinely reach people outside the realm of television. After we all said goodbye to the character and one of the greatest shows on television last week, a few fans thought they should pay their respects.
In the Friday addition of of Walter White’s home state’s Albuquerque Journal there was a nice little surprise for Breaking Bad fans. One “Walter White” made his way into the obituary section of the New Mexico based paper. It’s only fitting after his unfortunate demise in the season finale of the critically acclaimed show.
While speaking to the Albuquerque Journal, David Layman a member of the Breaking Bad Fan group that help put the obit together said “I’ve been a humongous Breaking Bad fan since the beginning”.
“I was actually in the pilot, and putting the obit in the paper was fitting, because the series was based in Albuquerque and it provides some of us some closure.”
The $166 obit in the Albuquerque Journal went into some great detail, and even placed a nice photo of Mr. White for everyone to see. The finale which garnered over 10 million viewers, finished in a fashion more than deserving of this nice little nod to a character that’s been a huge part of the state of New Mexico since 2008.
