After a three consecutive successful seasons as one of cable televisions biggest horror-drama’s, The Walking Dead will no longer be the only zombie show on the AMC network, in fact it won’t be the only Walking Dead program on the network. AMC has announced that they’re hoping to premiere a new Walking Dead spinoff in 2015. Being one of the most praised shows on televisions, it’s imprudent to think that AMC wouldn’t want to take advantage of the goldmine that they have in this series that’s barely scratched the surface as far as the comics they’re based on goes.

AMC president and GM Charlie Collier said,”Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer,”. “We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”

The world outside the core cast of the Walking Dead is unknown for now, but thanks to Telltale Walking Dead based video games there have been examples, some pretty damn good one in fact. The games are critically acclaimed, providing both uniquely interactive gameplay and amazing stories, some of which are being called on for inspiration for the upcoming spinoff.

But this just isn’t a push from AMC, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is behind this 100%. This is a duel effort.

“After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe,” Kirkman said. “The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”

Until then prep your televisions for the Oct. 13 premier of The Walking Dead.
