Frank Miller Plans On Sharing Some Words of Wisdom With Man of Steel Director, Zack Snyder
If you remember the announcement for the upcoming Batman and Superman movie, one of the quotes that was making its way from inside the panel at San Diego Comic Con was a quote from one of the best Batman stories you will ever read, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, a comic written and drawn by Frank Miller. During the announcement Man of Steel cast member Harry Lennix, who was apart of the panel helped ad to the craziness by reading a piece from the critically acclaimed story. Lennix read:
“I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember your hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”
Now if you know the story closely, Batman and Superman duke it out and Batman comes out on top after beating the snot out of Superman. So that just leads us to believe in Snyder’s Man of Steel follow-up we’re going to see the two heroes trade blows. How strong will the influence of Miller’s story would be in the film? That question is still unanswered, but we are moving closer to it. The Independent.co.uk reports that Snyder has reached out to Miller. Surprisingly, Miller was left in the dark just as much as we were. But the two parties plan to change that.
A source close to Miller had this to say:
“Frank had no idea the announcement in San Diego was going to happen so it did come as a surprise. He’s going to be meeting up with Zach in the next few days to go over the plans for the Superman film so things should be clearer after that.”
The title Superman vs Batman is being thrown around as the official name for the upcoming film. I prefer the idea of calling it The Worlds Finest like the team up comics. There’s still time to change the name! Anyways, Miller was one of the first to really pin the two heroes against each other. His depiction of the two added gallons of fuel to the “who would win” fire. It’ll be interesting to see how Batman and Superman are handled on screen together for the first time. Miller isn’t the worst guy to ask about their relationship. Especially since we learned after Man of Steel that Snyder is a fan of big superhero brawls.
