Spider-Man 4 Will Focus On More Than Spider-Man
Sony has already jumped the gun despite any unforeseen circumstances and announced The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4. We’ll see The Amazing Spider-Man 3 in theaters in 2016 and the fourth movie in the budding series will find its way onto screens in 2018. Even though its a hard argument to make, thats a lot of Spider-Man in a short time. I don’t think its possible to get burned out on Spider-Man but broadening the scope can’t hurt that much and that’s exactly what The Amazing Spider-Man director, Marc Webb, see’s the film doing. In an interview with CraveOnline.com, Webb relayed that he has a vision for the future film and Spider-Man might have to make a little room for some other guys.
Webb said ,”Well, I think this was conceived of as a trilogy so there was a defined architecture to the story we were telling and we had sort of a rough outline of what was going to happen. I think [for] the fourth movie, what we’vediscovered is there are so many ancillary characters, that have enormous, cinematic potential that there may be other ways to exploit those characters, in a way that is exciting and fun and worthwhile. It might not just be a Spider-Man movie.”
The web-slinger does have quite the supporting cast and they are all deep characters, adding to their stories can only add weight to the story. We’re already seeing two confirmed villains in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with Rhino and Electro on board, along with a brooding Harry and Norman Osborn. Fitting more parts of the Spider-Man universe into these films seems like something Webb has had in mind since the beginning.
